Karen's walk to Hartshead Pike proves to be a load of rubbish

Photographer Karen Jakeman set out on what should have been a beautiful 7.5 km circular walk up to a treasured local beauty spot, Hartshead Pike, near Mossley.

However, some of the scenes which greeted Karen were far from idyllic.

She said: “It was tainted by litterbugs who thought it was okay to leave their litter everywhere after celebrating New Years Eve.

“I collected three carrier bags, but unfortunately there was much more up there, including a big box of fireworks.”

Karen was later praised on social media for her positive actions.

One person posted: "Unfortunately scummy scruffs travelling to greener areas remain scummy scruffs.

"Thanks for cleaning some up.”
