Drama came to a village high street when a car being persued by police hit a double-decker bus.
The incident happened in Uppermill when a car overtook a stationary vehicles and hit the front of a 350 en route to the village square
An eye witness said: "The car was travelling fast through a 20mph zone and the police car was following.
"The car tried to overtake a line of traffic but the bus was coming the opposite way filling the lane. The mounted the pavement hitting the bus and a wall.
"Luckily there were no pedestrians on the pavement.
"The occupants left the car. I think police got one before more police arrived and gave chase."
