Mossley have recorded successive Evo-Stik North victories for the first this season after triumphing 3-2 over Ossett Town in an end-to-end encounter at Seel Park.

Goals from Mason Duffy, Tom Dean and Jack Tuohy ensured new management duo Dave Wild and Terry Hincks remain unbeaten during their time in charge.

The hosts headed into the game on the back of a comprehensive 4-2 victory at Ramsbottom United in the pair’s first game last week, and took an early lead this time out when Keenan Quansah’s dipping effort cannoned off the crossbar before Duffy volleyed home the rebound.

Ossett regrouped and pegged Mossley back in the 22nd minute as Martin Pembleton headed home at the near post from Craig Nelthorpe’s free-kick.

Mossley restored their lead through skipper Dean’s own headed effort, before the visitors levelled the scoring on the stroke of half-time courtesy of Ashley Jackson.

Despite another setback, the Lilywhites weren’t to be denied as former Athletic playmaker Jack Tuohy latched onto Logan Jeffs’ long throw before firing home from close-range midway through the half.

Mossley were denied a fourth goal when Danny McLaughlin’s goal was controversially ruled out for offside, before Callum Spencer pulled off a remarkable save late on to secure the points.

The Lilywhites are now 15 points above the Evo-Stik North drop-zone with just six games remaining.

Elsewhere, unbeaten Avro edged closer to lifting the Manchester Football League Premier Division title after compounding local rivals Heyside to a 3-1 defeat at the Vestacare Stadium.

First-half strikes from Mike Stockdale and Duncan Knott, along with a later goal from Matt Landregan, ensured the Blues’ undefeated record remains intact.

Avro are now a point away from reaching second-placed Wythenshawe Amateurs’ achievable points total.

Lee O’Brien and James Hampson’s side return to action in two weeks time when they travel to Rochdale Sacred Heart (6:30pm kick-off).
