The Chadderton-based Stealth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Youth team secured medals galore at the first ever Elite BJJ World Championships in Wolverhampton.

The BJJ World Championships brought together over 1,600 kids from as far away as Australia to compete in an exciting new martial art.

Parents watched proudly on the day as the incredible performances of Chadderton's newly-established youth team did not go unnoticed.

In total, the team took home two gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

The event was an opportunity for European champion Chloe Walker to showcase her talent, winning yet another title to become the team's first World champion.

The position of second World champion was seized by international competitor Libby Genge, who added this to her huge collection of titles including NAGA grappling champion in Germany, Pan American Silver medalist and last year's European champion.

When she took to the mat again, she brought home a silver medal in her category, before going on to fight in the open weight class against top female competitors.

In this she again demonstrated her dominance, beating two warriors from Spain to become the first ever female Absolute champion of the World.

Hussain Ali won two very tough matches to take silver in his second outing at a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competition.

Paige Penney and Hassan Ali also brought silver medals home for the team, while honourable mentions go to Ava Russel and Josephine Mensah who took bronze medals on the day.

Andrew Perez also secured bronze after winning an exciting back and forth battle, before a narrow defeat in his second match.
