Oldham's season kicks off against MK Dons on Saturday
Oldham Athletic boss Frankie Bunn is feeling good ahead of his side’s opener with MK Dons on Saturday.
Latics were relegated from League One at the end of last season and Bunn is targeting a quick return, with a good start to the campaign.
He said: “We’re looking ok. We’re looking quite good.
“We had a great pre-season, the boys are looking fit and raring to go.
“Hopefully we’ll get off to a good start. We’ll assess it after 10 games and we’ll have more of an idea where [we are] and where we’re going.
“We just want to get out on the grass and start playing and hopefully bring some supporters back to Boundary Park.”
Speaking ahead of the season opener, Bunn added that they’re hoping a new approach will help them kick on to promotion.
He said: “We’ve tried to implement change and I think everyone is taking it on board.
“There are smiles around the place again and everyone’s working hard towards our goal.
“So things are looking good.
“We’re organised and hard working, and we’re trying to now introduce a little bit of guile. Perhaps that’s one of the things that’s been missing in some of our games.
“We’ve coped defensively really well, played some really good teams, and perhaps we just need that little bit of guile, certainly in the final third.
“Hopefully we get off to a terrific start.
“There is a lot of optimism around the place, and like I said, the players are bright and bubbly.
“Hopefully that’ll put us in good standing.”
Yesterday, Latics announced they had signed former Manchester City striker Ishmael Miller on a one-year deal.
He became the 11th player to arrive at Boundary Park this summer.
