What a celebration: Lancashire's Over-60s cricketers
You’re never too old to be a UK champion – and Lancashire's Over-60s cricketers are here to prove it!
Neutral venue Aston Rowant Cricket Club hosted Lancashire and Hertfordshire as they went head-to-head in the Over-60s Cricket County Championship.
To get to the final, Lancashire had already had to top the North Section Group and prove their skill in three knock-out games.
John Murray from Royton and John Punchard from Crompton were amongst the players hoping to win the day.
In the end, Lancashire defeated Hertfordshire by an impressive 26 runs, becoming Over-60s champions for the first time in their history.
The Over-60s County Championship’s status has only grown since its beginnings in 2008, now boasting teams from 30 counties across England and Wales.
The list of past winners has included Cheshire three times and Kent and Essex twice – and now Lancashire can join them.
