Two boxers from Oldham’s Isaan Gym secured golden glory at the WTKA world championship in Pisa, Italy.

Chosen to represent Team GB, 12-year-old Tommy Lowe is now a three-time world champion in two different categories - K1 and Muay Thai.

Tommy, the UK’s number one ranked fighter in his category, faced tough opponents from Russia, Holland and Peru on his way to taking the world crown.

Luke Mattinson, who is also 12, is also now a three-time world champion in the same two categories - K1 and Muay Thai.

Currently ranked number three in the UK, Luke faced opponents from Italy, Peru and Holland to take the world crowns.

Isaan Gym head coach Steve Donnelly said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for my boxers to fight abroad, gaining them valuable experience.

“I’m over the moon for both these lads.

“They say success breeds success and we have an outstanding junior team on the production line at Isaan Gym.

“Considering we have only been open for three years, already we have two world champions.

“This is huge for Oldham.”
