Swimmers Lucy Cannavan and Amarai Hoque from Aquabears Swimming Club
Swimmers Lucy Cannavan and Amarai Hoque, both from Aquabears Swimming Club, have been selected to compete at next year’s English Schools Inter-Divisional Championships at Crawley Pool in March.
The competition is a long course level one meet, with competition fierce as divisions post teams from across the country.
Oldhamer Amarai, who attends Newman RC College in Chadderton, is ranked second in her 13 years age group in the north west region for 50 and 100 metres backstroke.
Lucy, who attends Cardinal Langley RC High School in Middleton, is currently second in the rankings for her 14 years age group in the North West for 50, 100, and 200 metres breaststroke.
Both swimmers are coached by Mark Crouch at the Aquabears club.
This year, if the junior team swim well, they could be selected to swim for the national team at one of Europe’s top international swim meets.
All swimmers were selected based on their rankings from the end of the last competitive season.
