Amirul Hussain in action
Oldham table tennis prospect Amirul Hussain has been selected to represent England at the European Youth Championships in Croatia in July.
Hussain, 17, earned his place in the Junior (Under-19) competition via a series of play-offs with fellow members of the England Youth Squad.
Hussain finished third in his group but came into his own in the knockout stage, first defeating Felix Thomis 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-7) in the quarter-finals.
The two semi-final victors would take their place in the squad, and Hussain sealed it thanks to a 3-2 (11-7, 9-11, 3-11, 11-8, 11-9) win over Ben Piggott.
The European Youth Championships begin on July 18 with the Junior age group the first in action and the younger Cadet age group (Under-15) following from July 27.
