WATERHEAD'S Ciaran Dean has won the National Conference League's division three Player-Of-The-Year award following his excellent season in the Warriors' promotion charge.

A centre, Dean was a model of consistency, scoring 14 tries and 48 goals over the course of the division three campaign, in which he also win five man-of-the-match awards.

He faced strong competition and just edged out Nathan Conroy of East Leeds and Dan Johnson of Eastmooor Dragons.

Another local winner was Peter Townsend, secretary of Saddleworth Rangers, who was presented with the Alfreida Kindon secretary-of-the-year prize for an outstanding season of administration on behalf of Rangers.

He is pictured with Joe Fitzsimmons, secretary of Wigan St Jude's and a leading member of the NCL management committee (left) and Peter Moran (right), president of the NCL.

This presentation was made at the NCL Grand Final at Featherstone in which Hunslet Club Parkside beat West Hull 18-14.
