Saddleworth Golf Club's ladies enjoyed a great ‘major’ competition as they played over 36 holes for Lady Captain Kaye Orme’s prize.

Leading the way in round one was Fiona Heston with 71, one less than Pam Taylor to set up a very competitive round two.

Pam led in with 73 after a cpo with Pam Tomlinson, one less than Jane Wild.

The overall winner was Pam Taylor with a two-round score of 145, taking her clear of Jane Wild 148 and Pam Tomlinson 150 to pick up another ‘major’ prize.

The nine-hole winner was Janice Nicholson 18 from Jean Barnes 17 and Eileen Waddington 16.

Kaye said: “It was great to see the ladies playing such good golf in round two.

“Unfortunately the weather wasn’t as good as in round one the week before – but not too much rain.

“Well done to all of the ladies!”

Captain’s Day at Crompton and Royton had Anthony Costello winning a cpo 66 from Michael Shaw, one less than Chris Wolstenholme.

The current standings in the Royton Sword sess Martin Barnes on top with 140, from James Cassell 143 and Ben Crompton 144.
