The Isaan contingent at the Barnsley Metrodome
Five talented young boxers from the Isaan Muay Thai training centre in Oldham competed at the Barnsley Metrodome Supershow - and all five emerged victorious.
The fighters were:
Tommy Sheridan, aged 10 from Failsworth
George Murphy, aged 15 from Failsworth
Danny Ferris, aged 15 from Fitton Hill
Caelen Watson, aged 11 from Derker
Joe Maders, aged 15 from Moorside
As well as the five victories, there were gym debuts for Joe Maders and Tommy Sheridan
Three new Celtic challenge champions were crowned, so it was a terrific day all round for Isaan.
Isaan should have had 12-year-old Jac Yates fighting an Irish opponent who had already had a bout earlier in the day, but he got injured so couidn't do the second bout.
The Isaan contingent were really disappointed for Jac, but these things happen.
Isaan head coach Ste Donnelly said: "I was really proud with the way Jac handled the disappointment and supported his team mates."
Donnelly added: "I’m extremely proud of the boys today - we had a clean sweep.
"I’ve been coaching my boxers differently for a while now and it’s so good for me to see our style changing with our knees and clinch development.
"We have been rebuilding our junior team and we have ridiculous talent coming through at the minute.
"As I always say, success breeds success."
