Oldham RUFC Ladies travelled over the hill to take on a well-established West Park Leeds side.
Although the final 27-0 scoreline doesn’t reflect the game, there were some great positives from Oldham.
Line outs were a lottery for both side due to the blustery conditions.
The packs were evenly matched, but the opposition backs had one or two tricks up their sleeves.
However, they were constantly repelled by a resilient Oldham defence.
Oldham’s attack did well moving the ball upfield to put pressure on West Park’s defence due to some great runs by Emma Redfern, Hannah Stopford, Katie Ross and Leanne Edmundson, ably led by their captain Emma Procter.
Debutant Stacey Valentine did well in her first ever game of rugby.
Abbie Grant took a knock in the first half but soon recovered and went back on.
Sophie Wright put a great shift in even though she was under the weather.
Jess Bull had a great game resulting in her being awarded the back of match due to her pressure on the West Park defence.
The forward of the match award went to Katie Ross, who in both attack and defence was superb.
Captain Emma Procter was also named as the opposition player of the match.
