Oldhamers are being invited to enjoy a free glass of Buck’s Fizz or orange juice, a free raffle and entertainment at an open day at MHA’s Avonleigh Gardens Care Home on Saturday, February 24.
The Care Home on Clyde Street, Oldham, will be open to the public from 10am to 3pm, with a cake stall, light snacks, music from the ’50s to the present, craft activities, a church service and the chance to speak to members of staff, including the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Part of the reason for the event is to recruit more volunteers to help run the home’s activity programme which will also benefit from the money raised on the day.
Manager Joanne Kelly said: “This is an opportunity for our neighbours to come and see what daily life is like at Avonleigh Gardens and for us to reach out to potential volunteers.
"Our activity programme makes a massive difference to the quality of life of our residents but we couldn’t run it without our fantastic volunteers.
"I hope that people will see what a rewarding experience volunteering here can be.”
Avonleigh Gardens Care Home is judged to be ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
