The Oldham Choral Society is recruiting new singers ahead of a forthcoming concert.

Rehearsals start this month for Verdi’s Requiem, which will be performed on Sunday, April 28 in the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (7pm).

Oldham Choral Society, with over 100 members, is one of the leading amateur choirs in the North West.

It has a reputation of performing choral music to a high standard with soloists of the highest calibre, accompanied by the acclaimed East Lancs Sinfonia.

Nigel Wilkinson, as MD, has guided the choir successfully for just over 20 years.

The repertoire includes most of the major choral works by Bach, Elgar, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Rossini and many others.

The society organises approximately four concerts a year in Oldham, Manchester and further afield.

The Autumn and Spring the concerts are held at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music.

Membership is open to anyone who wants to sing - there are no auditions.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings commencing at 7:20pm in the main hall of Chadderton Town Hall on Middleton Road.
