Oldham Sixth Form College launches new community partner initiative

Date published: 19 March 2024

Oldham Sixth Form College launched its OSFC Community Partner initiative with a breakfast networking event.

OSFC's Futures team, Kevin Reece (Futures/Careers Manager) and Cindy Bramhall (Employer Engagement Officer), introduced the many ways in which local businesses can support OSFC and its students.

The scheme aims to help increase the number of work placement opportunities, insights into the world of work via presentations and talks and curriculum work-based projects that OSFC are able to offer students.

The main benefits of becoming an OSFC Community Partner include:

The OSFC Community Partner Logo - This is awarded to employers to be used on social media, websites and letterhead. The idea is to help recognise the valuable support given by our fantastic employer partners and to help enhance their public image on social media.

A brilliant way to evidence your commitment to CSR/ESG and contribution to the local community.

Your company is listed on our Partners page on our website with a link to your website.

Staff development and wellbeing - Mentoring young people and helping to guide their early careers can be massively rewarding.

Mr Reece was really pleased with the success of the launch event.

He said: “It was great to meet local employers and to explain how the initiative can help support our students, but also how it can help recognise their invaluable support.

"The feedback was fantastic and they shared some great ideas to take this initiative further.

"We’re really excited at the prospect of building a number of partnerships that will benefit our students, the employers and the local community.”
