The North West Air Ambulance Charity is inviting community clubs across the region to take part in a new fundraising campaign with a competitive twist - Race to the Base.

Last year was the charity’s busiest on record, and demand for its lifesaving service continues to grow. With emergency calls and missions increasing, the need for support has never been greater. Now, community clubs are being asked to step forward and help fund the care that saves lives across the North West.

Launching on 1st June, Race to the Base will see clubs go head-to-head in a friendly but mission-critical challenge. The goal is simple: be the first to fund a full air ambulance mission. Along the way, there will also be recognition for the highest amount raised and the most creative fundraising idea.

Clubs can sign up during April and May before the race begins. Once the clock starts, each club will fundraise in its own way, whether that’s events, activities or something completely different, all while working towards a shared purpose.

Whether it’s a WI, Rotary club, Scout or Guide group, or any other community organisation, Race to the Base is open to all, with no age restrictions, making it a challenge that truly brings communities of every generation together.

Chris Wells, Regional Fundraiser at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Race to the Base is all about bringing people together for a shared purpose. Whether clubs go big or keep it simple, every effort makes a difference. It’s inspiring to see communities step forward and help us be there in the most critical moments.”

Winning clubs will be invited to the charity’s operational base for an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit, where they can see the helicopter that flew the mission they helped fund and meet the crew.

Every club that takes part will receive a mission-funded certificate, a thank you message from the crew, and an update on the difference their support makes.

As a charity that relies entirely on public donations, every mission is funded by people like you.
