The Whit Friday walk of witness, organised by Churches together in Saddleworth, raised £1,162.64 for a national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.
The churches included Saint Anne, Lydgate; Christ Church, Friezland; Ebenezer, Uppermill; Uppermill Methodist; Family Church, Saddleworth; Saint Chad, Saddleworth; Sacred Heart & Saint William; Kilngreen Mission Church and Holy Trinity, Dobcross.
The charity Papyrus provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide.
They do this by engaging communities and volunteers in suicide prevention projects and deliver training programmes to individuals and groups.
Their aim is to shape national social policy and make a significant contribution to the local and regional implementation of national suicide prevention strategies.
