Jack Jolley organised the fundraiser after losing his mum to cystic fibrosis when he was young.
Jack initially hoped to raise £150 but said the total had passed eight stretch goals and reached more than £700.
Six people took part in the hide-and-seek event at Crompton Moor, Oldham. Two others helped with fundraising but were unable to attend.
Jack said he wanted to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis and help prevent other families experiencing the suffering his family had faced.
“My Mum died of cystic fibrosis when I was young” he said. “I wanted to spark activism about cystic fibrosis and to turn my suffering into a triumph for people living with the condition”.
The fundraiser has received 34 donations from more than 25 people. Jack said he and his friends had made some donations on behalf of relatives who did not know how to use online banking.
He said two increases in donations followed his initial efforts to spread the word and a Facebook post shared by his grandmother, Karen Smith.
