Oldham Athletic spurned chances to beat Gillingham and will be disappointed with a goalless draw.
Manager Richie Wellens made one change to the side which drew with AFC Wimbledon, Dan Gardner returning following suspension.
Craig Davies, Jack Byrne, Eoin Doyle all had opportunities to put Latics in front in the first half.
Latics keeper Johny Placide saved well from Lee Martin and again from Conor Wilkinson just before half time.
The second half was much the same as the first, Latics creating good chances but unable to put the finishing touch. Doyle with two opportunities but the closest Latics came to scoring was when substitute Queensy Menig took on two players and rounded the goalkeeper but a defender got back on the line to clear.
Gillingham had their moments, putting Oldham under pressure, but the Latics defence stood firm and when Eaves found a way through Placide came to the rescue.
