George Edmundson appeared in 54 games for Latics last season
Oldham Athletic’s chances of keeping defender George Edmundson look bleak after they rejected a bid for him as interest intensifies just days after the end of the season.
The Oldham Evening Chronicle understands Hull City are the first team to table an offer for the 21-year old, however that bid has been rejected by bosses at Boundary Park as it fell way short of the valuation Latics have for the defender.
However, it doesn’t appear to have put off the Tigers or other sides interested in securing the services of the Oldham Athletic Academy product who impressed last season, becoming an ever present next to Peter Clarke.
The defender is drawing the attention of sides such as Preston North End, Sunderland, Hull and Stoke City after appearing in 54 games for Latics last season, winning the Community Trust player of the season and Players’ player of the season at their end of term awards.
He was also voted into the English Football League’s League Two team of the year.
Interest first started in the 21-year old during the January Transfer Window, with League One Scunthorpe United understood to have tabled a £200,000 bid, that was turned down.
Edmundson has another year left to run on his current deal at Boundary Park but it’s believed he’s more likely to be sold, if the club’s valuation is met, this summer.
