Amid all the speculation surrounding who’ll be the next manager at Oldham Athletic and the possible destination for George Edmundson, the club have wasted no time in adding to their defensive line-up.
With the loss of Peter Clarke and the yet to be confirmed departure of Edmundson, Latics have added former loanee Alex Iacovitti to their squad.
After being released by Nottingham Forest in the summer, Iacovitti was on the look out for a new home with Revolution News understanding he did have a number of possible suitors.
However, it appears the bosses at Boundary Park have beaten off the competition for his signature, agreeing a two-year deal with the 21-year old with an option for a further year.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Iacovitti said: “I really enjoyed my time on loan and got a lot of game time towards the end of the season so it only felt right to come back once I knew the club wanted me.”
The fans have been brilliant and I can’t wait to get back playing and showing what I can do.”
After joining Latics in January on loan from the City Ground, Iacovitti made a total of nine appearances for the club, scoring once at Colchester in April.
