Oldham Athletic to begin season at Forest Green

With days to go before players start returning for pre-season training Oldham Athletic now know who they’ll play and when after the new season’s fixture were released.

Latics, under the charge of their new head coach Laurent Banide, will begin their quest for promotion from League Two at the second time of asking away from Boundary Park on Saturday 3rd of August.

Forest Green Rovers will be their first port of call before returning to home soil a week later when Crewe Alexandra visit Boundary Park on Saturday 10th August, marking Banide’s first League game in the home dugout.

Four days later Oldham will make their debut in this season’s Carabao Cup against an opponent still the be decided.

Trips to Bradford City and Cambridge United are also on the list for August with a home game against Exeter City sandwiched between the pair.

September will see Latics face the first of the relegated sides from League One in Plymouth Argyle with Oldham travelling to Home Park on Saturday 7th September.

Newly promoted back to the Football League, Leyton Orient will visit Boundary Park for the first time in December while Latics will take on former manager Paul Scholes’ side, Salford City, as part of the busy Christmas schedule.

That will include a trip to Morecambe on Boxing Day, the visit from Salford three days later before Scunthorpe come calling on New Years’ Day with the Third Round of the FA Cup due to take place on Saturday 4th January.

Latics will make their first appearance in the FA Cup on Saturday 9th November.

Finally, the season concludes on Saturday 25th April with a trip to the seaside and Grimsby Town for Oldham Athletic.
