Less than 24-hours after the fixtures for the new season were released, Oldham Athletic also found out who they will face in the first round of the Carabao Cup, with a trip to a Championship club and former Premier League winner their reward.

The season will be less than two weeks old when Latics travel to Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers in the opening round of the League Cup, hoping to improve on their performance in the competition last season.

Oldham also faced Championship opposition back in August 2018 in the form of Derby County and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup 2-0 at Boundary Park.

Now they’ll be out to cause an upset this time around when they travel to Ewood Park to face Tony Mowbray’s side.

The game is due to be played during the week commencing Monday 12th August.
