The saga of who George Edmundson will be playing for next season has been concluded with the 21-year old agreeing terms on a deal to take him from Oldham Athletic to Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

The defender, who made 54-appearances for Latics last season and was named in the League Two team of the year, has put pen to paper on a four year deal at Ibrox.

A whole host of clubs had been interested in signing the former Oldham Athletic academy product but it all boiled down to Latics accepting bids from three clubs for him, Peterborough United, Portsmouth and Rangers.

Then it was up to George to decide which one he wanted to talk to with the former Scottish Premier League Champions winning the race to sign him.

It was no secret that the 21-year old wanted to link up with Steven Gerrard north of boarder as soon as it was known that they were interested in him, indeed George even asked Latics owner Abdallah Lemsagam to let him talk to the Scottish club.

He’s now got his wish and leaves Oldham Athletic having made more than 60 appearances for the club, scoring three times.
