Stalemate for Latics at Maidstone

Date published: 18 November 2022

Latics drew 0-0 at Maidstone in a game of few chances at the Gallagher Stadium.

An away point wasn't quite enough to lift David Unsworth's side out of the National League relegation zone.

Both sides would have seen the game as an opportunity to pull away from the bottom four, but defences were on top and chances at a premium.

Maidstone keeper Ryan Sandford was in fine form, producing two excellent stops, one in each half, to deny Timmy Abraham when he looked set to break the deadlock.

The hosts' best chance came in the 62nd minute when Sam Corne was sent through, but Latics stopper Magnus Norman came to the rescue for his side.

Latics boss Unsworth said: "There were positives in terms of performance, clean sheet, looking like a team, our build-up play, some decent football, it was there today.

"We created chances as well."

Latics are back in action in a fortnight (December 3) when they travel to Solihull Moors.
