George Elokobi celebrates scoring a goal during his spell as a Latics player
Former Latics defender George Elokobi is looking to hopefully renewing some old acquaintances tomorrow when his Maidstone side head to Boundary Park for a crunch National League clash.
Cameroonian Elokobi spent the 2014/15 season with Latics after leaving Wolves, when the Boundary Park outfit were in League One.
He is now caretaker manager of Maidstone, though it's been a tough campaign so far with the Stones currently propping up the league table.
Looking ahead to the trip north to an old stomping ground, Elokobi told KentOnline: "It’s a club I know well.
“Yes, I love those fans. They gave me a good year at Oldham and I was well-supported by the football club.
“I helped a few youngsters shoot up into the pro scene.
“My role there wasn’t just about playing on the football pitch.
“It was also about representing the community and I did that emphatically.
“It was good to have that relationship with the Oldham faithful.
“I’ve got fond memories of the place and hopefully we go there and give a good account of ourselves.”
Latics must fancy their chances tomorrow as Maidstone haven't won a league game since way back in November.
Latics, meanwhile, have moved clear of the drop zone thanks to a run of just one loss in seven matches since the turn of the year.
