Latics release nine players

Following the end of Latics' National League season, the club has now confirmed its retained player list for the first team.

Latics ended their season on Saturday with a 1-1 home draw against Bromley which saw them finish in the top half of the Vanarama National League table.

Nine players have now been released.

They are:

Jordan Clarke, Vani Da Silva, Zaine Francis-Angol, Joe Edwards, Oliver Kilner, Lois Maynard, Chris Porter, Jack Stobbs and Trey Turner.

In addition, four players who were signed on loan during the season will be returning to their parent clubs.

This means Timmy Abraham and Peter Clarke go back to Walsall, Ellis Chapman to Cheltenham and Bassala Sambou to Crewe.

Eighteen players remain under contract:

Luke Burgess, Benny Couto, Mike Fondop, Dan Gardner, Liam Hogan, Hallam Hope, Mark Kitching, Jayson Leutwiler, Harrison McGahey, Magnus Norman, Joe Nuttall, Alex Reid, John Rooney, Mark Shelton, Nathan Sheron, Will Sutton, Ben Tollitt, Jordan Windass.

In addition, negotiations are ongoing with four other players - Devarn Green, Matt Hudson, Junior Luamba and Joe Yarney.

In making the announcement, the club stated: “We would like to place on record our thanks to all the players who have not been retained for their contribution whilst at Boundary Park and we wish them well in their future careers.

“An update will be provided in due course on scholars from the Academy who have been offered professional contracts.”
