Latics have snapped up defender Reagan Ogle from Scunthorpe United.

The 25-year-old joins Latics on a two-year contract, having spent recent seasons in League Two and the National League with Hartlepool United and Scunthorpe respectively.

Mainly operating at right-back, Reagan can also play on the left of the defence and on the right of midfield.

“I’m very pleased to be here and to have signed for such a fantastic club,” Ogle said.

“I wanted a challenge with my next move, and I’m really looking forward to the chance to step up and test myself.

“I’ve played at this level before and the opportunity to be part of a competitive side in this division is something I’m relishing.

“I’m a right-back by trade, I like to get forward, attack and leave it all out there.”

Reagan moved to England from his native Australia at the age of 11, joining the youth ranks at Accrington Stanley.

After turning professional and enjoying a number of seasons out on loan, including two with Southport, he linked up with Hartlepool, spending a season at Victoria Park.

Later moving to Scunthorpe, he picked up the Supporters' and Players' Player of the Year award in his debut season, and was an integral part of the Iron team last season.

“We’ve been paying close attention to a number of right backs but we feel Reagan ticks every box we require,” said Latics boss Micky Mellon.

“Reagan has got a good pedigree, has had two good years at Scunthorpe and has shown he has got what it takes to play well consistently at this level.

“We want footballers who are going to come in and help us do well and that’s certainly the case with Reagan.

“We’ve worked hard to get this deal done and I’m really pleased we’ve got a player who will play an important in filling the right back position.”

Supporters and local businesses can sponsor Reagan for the upcoming campaign, with opportunities to sponsor the home, away and third shirts available.
