Latics have announced the signing of goalkeeper Scott Moloney on a one-year-deal.
Moloney has been with Latics throughout pre-season, registering a number of impressive performances during his trial period.
The shot-stopper spent his youth career at Hartlepool United and Bury, making two appearances as an 18-year-old, before joining Skelmersdale United on loan.
He joined League Two Barrow in 2020 under ex-Latics manager David Dunn and made his professional debut in an EFL Trophy fixture against Accrington Stanley.
Moloney, now 24, said: “I’m buzzing to finally get this over the line.
“It took longer than I thought, but I knew as soon as I came through the door that this was a good move for me.
“I like the way the Gaffer wants to play, and Scotty (Scott Davies) is a great guy and coach, and I feel I can really progress my game under him.
“My grandad’s an Oldham fan as are a lot of my friends, so this is really a dream move for me.”
Moloney’s best spell was at Nantwich Town where he became a regular for the Dabbers.
He made 29 appearances for the club, keeping 11 clean sheets, becoming a real fans favourite.
In March, he departed the club to join Northern Premier Division side FC United, where his last spell was.
Latics gaffer Micky Mellon said: “Scott is a goalkeeper with a lot of good qualities.
“He’s very comfortable with the ball at his feet and his distribution, which we see as an important attribute of how we want to play.
“He’ll provide competition for places and keep our goalkeepers on their toes.
“I’m really happy to have him on board and to see the progress that he makes so he’s a very welcome addition to the group.”
