Latics fell to defeat at Stockton Town
A below-strength Latics team exited the FA Trophy competition thanks to a humbling 2-0 defeat on the road against minnows Stockton Town.
The Northern Premier League hosts struck in the 53rd minute when they took the lead following a corner.
Adam Nicholson rose highest to nod home to give Stockton the advantage.
The game was wrapped up in the final minute when Michael Sweet bundled the ball home at the near post.
Latics boss Micky Mellon said: "We said before we came up here this (the FA Trophy) is never going to be what we want to be heavily involved in.
"That doesn't mean that we didn't want to come up here and get a result, but it is what it is."
Latics return to National League action on Saturday when they host Wealdstone.
