Latics cruise to victory at struggling Braintree

Latics won 2-0 at Braintree
In-form Latics extended their unbeaten National League run to eight games with a routine 2-0 victory at struggling Braintree.
On-loan Wigan striker Josh Stones headed in Mark Kitching's cross, for his fourth goal in three games, to give the visitors a 15th-minute lead.
Braintree, in the bottom four and without a win in more than a month, almost levelled through Chay Cooper, but Latics goalkeeper Mathew Hudson saved well.
James Norwood then rounded Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Covolan five minutes after the restart to double Latics' lead and secure the three points.
Latics are back in action on Boxing Day as they face a mouth-watering home clash against high-flying York City (5.30pm ko).
