Brindley header denies Latics victory

Latics drew 2-2 at mid-table Eastleigh
Richard Brindley's second-half header earned Eastleigh a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Latics last night (Tuesday).
Micky Mellon's side were looking to bounce back from a New Year's Day reversal at Hartlepool, which was only their third league defeat of the season.
They were in the box-seat after recovering from Ludwig Francillette's 32nd-minute goal to lead midway through the second period.
Charlie Raglan hauled Latics level after 62 minutes before Mike Fondop's header edged them ahead just three minutes later.
But Eastleigh were not done, and Luke Humphries flicked on Paul McCallum's long throw to set up Brindley and deny the visitors maximum points.
Boss Mellon said: "Our second half was much better, but that's two games on the trot and we know these are the things we've got to improve on.
"This isn't criticism, we know that if you take the lead twice in the last two games you have to find a way of seeing that through."
Latics, who are now fifth in the National League table, are back in action on Saturday when they host last night's opponents Eastleigh.
