Latics lost 2-1 at home against Swindon Town
Ian Holloway's Swindon recorded their first away win of the season with a narrow 2-1 League Two win at Latics.
The Robins took the lead in the fourth minute as Finley Munroe's delivery was flicked on by Harry Smith towards Joe Snowdon, who fired past Latics 'keeper Matthew Hudson.
Snowdon had a hand in Swindon's second goal after 19 minutes.
His initial shot was beaten away by Hudson but when the ball was worked back into the box, Snowdon picked out the unmarked Tom Nichols, who swept a clinical finish into the roof of the net.
Joe Quigley nodded Ryan Woods' free-kick over the crossbar, but went one better in the 34th minute when he met Tom Conlon's set-piece to halve the deficit with a powerful header.
Momentum briefly shifted with that goal and Mike Fondop was close to levelling when he met Conlon's cross, but former Latics stopper Connor Ripley saved his header.
The hosts' late claims for a penalty were waved away by referee Greg Rollason after the ball appeared to hit Will Wright's arm as Swindon resisted late Latics pressure.
Latics boss Micky Mellon said: "We weren't winning enough knockdowns, weren't doing the jobs that we need people to do in order for us to have done better in that first 17 minutes.
"Just people coming off what we need them to do, all the way right through the team, it was absolutely way off what we need to do, so that was disappointing."
