Oldham still have a lot of work to do

A win is a win, admitted Roughyeds coach Scott Naylor

Scott Naylor couldn't conceal his disappointment at the below-par performance Oldham came up with in their 30-2 win at North Wales Crusaders.

He's been around for long enough, though, to know that if you score six tries in Wrexham and win you've got to accept the positives and the two precious league points and move on.

"A win's a win," said the Roughyeds' boss.

"It's nice to pick up the two points as well. You've got to be happy when you win.

"It wasn't a performance we could be proud of. To be honest, it was one of our worst displays for a long time.

"The game didn't have any continuity and we seemed unsure at the ruck about what the match officials wanted, or didn't want.

"When we got any decent field position we made a lot of errors which meant we didn't put Crusaders under any sustained pressure. 

"For a lot of the game we played in second gear and that allowed Crusaders to stay in the game for much longer than we would have liked.

"We had a chat at half-time and played with more structure in the second half. At least it was a bit better than the first half.

"It's my job to sort out the things that need putting right as we strive to take on Bradford Bulls and then play Hunslet, Keighley and Hull KR in the cup.

"We've a lot of work to do."
