Play-off hopes rise as Oldham sink Whitehaven

Oldham's hopes of League 1 play-off qualification soared with a 20-0 win against Whitehaven at the Vestacare Stadium.
Craig Briscoe and David Hewitt scored first-half tries, both improved by Paul Crook, to give Roughyeds a 12-0 interval lead.
Haven didn't pose a serious threat as an attacking force, but they defended stoutly, as did Oldham whom the Cumbrians restricted to one more try by Danny Langtree late in the game.
Crook goaled and then added a penalty for a 20-0 Oldham triumph.
Langtree has now scored 18 tries this season -- more than any other Oldham forward in any given season since the modern Oldham club was established 21 years ago.
