Oldham forwards Luke Nelmes and Zac Baker are named in the latest Rugby League World magazine’s League 1 team of the month.
The pair feature along with Cornwall stand-off Cameron Brown, who will be facing Oldham in the next Roughyeds game at home to Cornwall this Sunday, May 7, kicking off at 1pm to give the visitors an earlier start on their long journey home.
Roughyeds, meanwhile, are inviting applications for someone aged 18 or over, gender immaterial, to become the club’s new Roary mascot, succeeding 26-year-old Nathan Murgatroyd, an NHS worker, who has worn the costume for the last 12 years.
The role is described as a key and hugely important one in terms of engagement with fans and the club’s community work
Nathan wants to involve himself, as himself, in new community ventures, the latest of which requires Sam Doyle, of the club’s backroom training staff to give six, one-hour sessions on basic rugby league skills to young people at the Mahdlo Youth Zone.
