Turner signs two-year Oldham deal

Date published: 23 August 2023

Super League back Jordan Turner (34) will leave Castleford Tigers soon to join home-town Oldham RLFC on a two-year deal as player and coaching assistant, covering seasons 2024 and 2025.

Oldham-born Turner, from Moorside, has made nearly 300 Super League appearances with St Helens, Salford, Hull FC, Huddersfield and Castleford, but has always cherished a hope that he might play one day for the team he supported as a boy.

“I thought it might not happen,” he said, “but to play for Oldham and to help with coaching as we push for the higher echelons is very attractive.”

Oldham supremo Mike Ford added: “This big signing underlines our intention to build a squad from which Oldham fans can derive great pride and excitement.”

Turner becomes the fifth big signing made by the club’s new board, following those of Pat Moran, Nick Rawsthorne, Josh Johnson and Jamie Ellis, all top-class players with loads of experience in Super League or Championship rugby league.
