Oldham stars Martyn Ridyard and Connor Carr have been nominated for prestigious Betfred League One player of the year awards.
Both players will leave Roughyeds soon, Ridyard (37) when his contract expires on November 30 and talented young centre Carr when he returns to Huddersfield Giants following the completion of his season-long loan.
Ridyard, Oldham’s captain, goalkicker and chief tactical organiser, is one of four nominees for the League One player of the year, alongside two from champions Dewsbury Rams, hooker Reiss Butterworth and veteran stand-off Paul Sykes, and Doncaster second-row man Sam Smeaton.
Carr, meanwhile, is in the running for the young player of the year award with Joe Burton (Hunslet), Ben O’Keefe (Rochdale Hornets) and Ciaran Walker of Workington Town.
There are three nominees for coach of the year - Liam Finn of Dewsbury Rams. Anthony Murray of Workington Town and Mike Abbott of Cornwall, this to reflect on the progress Cornwall have made in 2023, a club that was formed only two years ago.
