Long names young Astley as his No 1

Sean Long, new head coach of born-again Oldham Rugby League Club, has named ten new signings in his first 17 squad numbers, including young former Wigan Warriors utility back Logan Astley. who has the coveted No 1 jersey.

Said Long: "You can't read too much into this - a guide maybe, but if numbered players in the 20s are doing well in training they will go in to the team."

Oldham, meanwhile, are looking to appoint a full-time sales and marketing manager on a competitive salary - a job described by managing director Mike Ford as a "terrific opportunity" for the right candidate.
