Oldham face trip to the south of France on longest day

Date published: 09 June 2025

Third in the Championship table after 12 games - exactly half way though the regular league season - Oldham Rugby League Club have given their players a bit of time off.

That's because they don't play again until Saturday, June 21, the year's longest day, when they travel to the south of France to play league leaders Toulouse Olympique.

They expect to take 400 fans with them on the 2,000-mile round trip, all kitted out with discounted merchandise bought at a special flash sale at Boundary Park on June 14.

"Our magnificent fans will be proud to travel all that way and even prouder to show their true colours," said new Head of Operations David Bottomley, who revealed that details of an end-of-season club dinner would be announced in the next few days.

"These are exciting times for the Oldham club," he said, adding that the fans who go to France will be the first to hear a major announcement to be made over there

Chairman Bill Quinn said: "We won League One (tier three) at a canter last year, and now we are third in the Championship (tier 2) and handily placed to finish in the top-six play-off.

"That's fabulous. We are going up in the world. That's for sure."

Oldham have 12 games .left, but only five at home - against Barrow, Doncaster, Widnes, Sheffield and Hunslet.

They have seven away games at Toulouse, Bradford, Halifax, York, Featherstone, Batley and London.
