A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after a hostage situation in Shaw.
Marc Schofield, of Pemberton Way, Shaw, was yesterday charged with three counts of assault, two counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or serious violence and false imprisonment.
He remains in custody and was due to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court today.
Shortly before 3.15am on Tuesday, police were called to reports that a man armed with a gun had locked himself in an address on Pemberton Way.
Officers attended and were negotiating with the man before armed police entered the property and safely resolved the hostage situation after 25 hours.
A woman was released from the property by officers, while two children had been released in the early hours of the stand-off.
