Two Asian teenagers who held a school friend captive in their car before releasing him yelling “white boy run” have been spared jail.
Vaqas Mohammed (18), of Hillside Avenue, Oldham, and a 17-year-old boy from Oldham were in a Land Rover when they picked up the victim in Mossley in August last year.
But an argument broke out and Vaqas then drove the vehicle to a bridal path.
At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, prosecutor Miss Kim Irving said: “The 17-year-old ordered the victim out of the car but he refused. The victim then heard someone say ‘get the baseball bat’. He then got out of the car and ran off.
“He then heard someone say ‘run white boy, run’.”
Vaqas Mohammed and the 17-year-old pleaded guilty to false imprisonment.
Judge Jonathan Foster QC told them: “You have brought shame and disrepute to your families. If you were older you would be in prison.”
The two teenagers were sentence to a community order that involves a 100 hours unpaid work and nine months supervision.
