PUPILS sing out in support of the campaign at the Grange Arts Centre
PUPILS from three primary schools were in fine voice as they took part in the national Sing Up campaign.
The campaign aims to get primary school pupils singing to help break down barriers and bring people together.
Year 4 youngsters from St Hugh’s Primary, in Holts, Alt Primary School, in Alt, and Roundthorn primary School, Roundthorn, joined forces for a special performance at the Grange Arts Centre.
About 90 children sang a variety of tunes including the “Rhythm of Life”, hits from the musical “Oliver” and songs written specially for the show.
The project was part of the Oldham’s School Linking Project(OSLP) which brings together pupils from different backgrounds.
Catherine Rhodes, project co-ordinator, said: “The pupils absolutely loved it and couldn’t wait for it to be their turn on stage.
“During seven weeks work for campaign, the children made up songs based on their own experiences, such as maths lessons and waiting in line, which they performed on the night to parents and fellow pupils.”
