Avoid voting mix-up
Date published: 16 April 2010
Voters are being urged to make sure their postal ballot papers for the local and general elections are not mixed up.
Election staff say the papers must be completed and returned separately.
Oldham Council is distributing the poll cards and postal votes separately for the local and Parliamentary election on May 6.
Poll cards for the local elections have already gone out, while those for the general election are being delivered across Oldham and should be in letter boxes by this weekend.
Postal voting forms for the local elections will be given to the Royal Mail next Friday and should begin arriving at local homes the following day.
The Parliamentary postal vote forms will go to Royal Mail on April 26 and start arriving next day.
A spokesman said: “Please take care not to mix the ballot papers and statements for the two elections.
“If you have any queries about your poll cards or postal ballot papers, please contact the Elections Office on 0161-770 4718 or e-mail elections@oldham.gov.uk.”
