Rare programmes go under the hammer

TWO rare Athletic match programmes from the early 1900s are to go under the hammer.
The first programmes is from a match played in October, 1905, between Liverpool Reserves and Oldham Athletic in which Latics ran out 2-1 winners. It is believed to be the oldest programme involving Oldham, which was then a non-league club.
The second was issued for the match between Latics and Sheffield Wednesday in January 1930, which still holds the club’s record attendance at 46,471. Latics lost that one 4-3.
Eagle-eyed Steve Hobin contacted the Chronicle after spotting the programmes on an auction website.
The auction is in Birmingham tomorrow, when the programmes are expected to fetch £120-£150 each.
