Action group severs ties with Buckley

SAVE Diggle Action Group (SDAG) has dissociated itself from disgraced councillor Mike Buckley.
Councillor Buckley’s actions have been publicly condemned by the group following his conviction for downloading indecent images of naked boys.
SDAG fights to preserve rural and historical heritage in the area and specifically opposes the proposed site of the new Saddleworth School. Councillor Buckley was an active member.
The Saddleworth parish councillor recently said a local campaign calling on him to resign was “politically motivated” due to his involvement with SDAG.
The group has responded that this is “wholly untrue, insensitive and entirely unacceptable to the group and our supporters.
“His current circumstances are a consequence of his own actions and to suggest otherwise is outrageous. We wish to publicly dissociate ourselves from him and express our condemnation of his actions.”
The Evening Chronicle reported on Tuesday that Councillor Buckley has been isolated from key parish council roles. Saddleworth parish councillors urged Mr Buckley to resign at a full council meeting on Monday night. They dissolved committees on which he served and re-elected members, excluding him.
