Fly tipping on Ashton Road, Hathershaw.
FOOD waste, old clothing and even a child's car seat were dumped in Hathershaw leaving residents "disgusted" and illustrating the problem with fly-tipping in the borough.
Around 20 bin bags full of rubbish were left strewn across the pavement on Ashton Road, with pedestrians struggling to navigate around the mess.
One woman who spotted the fly-tipping said: "It's an absolute disgrace.
"There is rotting food in the bags which will no doubt attract rats to the area.
"It has been strewn all down the road and its an environmental hazard."
A council spokesperson confirmed that the offender had been served with a fixed penalty notice and the site was now cleared.
