Date published: 24 July 2019

Hundreds of mourners lined Oldham streets before the funeral of PC Shazad Saddique, who died suddenly whilst visiting Fairy Pools, on the Isle of Skye, on Friday.

Traffic was brought to a standstill in Oldham yesterday (Tuesday) as people paid their respects to the GMP officer.

He covered the Tameside beat and was from Oldham.

The student officer was with his 13-year-old son on holiday when he died.

Police Scotland confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

The 38-year-old was a father of three and expecting his fourth child with his wife.

Prayers were held at the Madina Mosque and Islamic Centre in Coppice, followed by a service at Chadderton Cemetery.

Dozens of police officers and firefighters, along with family and members of the community, paid their respects.
