Oldham couple to re-open White House pub

Date published: 31 October 2019

The popular White House pub on Oldham Edge is set to re-open soon.

The pub underwent a refit in 2018, but closed down shortly afterwards and was boarded up earlier this year.

Now an Oldham couple are set to re-launch the pub after completing training from Samuel Smiths brewery who own the establishment.

Craig and Angela Horrocks will be opening the doors this Saturday (2nd November) from 3pm.

"We were looking to do something together", says Craig, 48. "Angela has previously worked for Oldham Council, and I worked for the NHS, but we decided it was time for a change"

"We definitely wanted to stay local as we're both from Oldham.  We looked at a number of pubs - including one in Shaw - but we were blown away when we saw The White House"

The pub has been mothballed for most of 2019, and has needed substantial work before it's ready to re-open again.

The entire bar and lounge area required a clean, and the beer lines have been disinfected before the opening on Saturday.  The newly fitted kitchen also needed a deep clean to be ready for service.

The couple plan to offer food, as well as a warm welcome and an open fire.

The White House re-opens this Saturday afternoon from 3pm.
